Winter
'09 Trip to Turkey
"It
was a great trip as 23 people travelled
together to the sites of the seven
churches of Revelation and the Island
of Patmos from which John wrote to
the seven churches.
There was
great interest as our guide shared
with us the history of the sites and
Bill Griffin laid a theological foundation
for the churches and the implications
for today.
A number of people
were on the trip for interest but all
those travelling took in the majority
of the teaching shared by Bill as we
visited the sites and as we spent extra
time in settings where Bill was able
to give us excellent teaching.
It
was great to sit under Bill’s
gifts as a professor once again. As
we were coming to the end of the trip
a senior pastor and his associate asked
when and where the next trip would
take us.
We
are looking at a couple of options
and hope to have a destination set
in place soon."

...last
March Master's hosted a unique learning experience where for 12 days students
had the privilege of experiencing Pentecostal Theology... from the
Ground Up! Students visited present day Turkey and toured the actual
sites of the seven churches of Revelation while learning about the person
and work of the Holy Spirit.
See what one of the students, Karl Zwirner, had to say...
 |
“…to make a "pilgrimage" … to
the place where the church began its missionary endeavours was nothing
short of life altering.” |
| "To sit under the instruction
of a professor such as Bill Griffin was an honour for us." |
 |
 |
“The scenery and locations along the way were
stunning to behold and it really gave us a solid context for studying Pentecostal
beginnings and the book of Revelation.”
|
| “We were in the cave on the Island
of Patmos on the Lord's day, which touched everyone in a profound way....I
no longer read the apostle Paul or John's writings without a frame
of reference. Rather, I can more easily imagine myself in the context
of the recipients of those letters in vivid color, whenever I read
them.” |

“…it was a highly
valuable and enjoyable learning experience and if offered in the future,
this trip will undoubtedly be a highlight for any pastor or other serious
student of the Word.”
